De Pura Cepa is a Thesis Film from the American Film Institute scheduled to start filming March 20 ,2007.
The film story: Our Movie: In order to win the grand prize in a game show, Sam must correctly answer one question: 'What is a Puerto Rican?' After being selected
as a finalist, he travels to his homeland for the first time in
over fifty years. Once there, he discovers that the game show --
and the question -- are more connected to his past than he ever
could have imagined -- and answering the question becomes a
How you can help: The production needs of De Pura Cepa are large and expensive. AFI give us a small grant to help us start with the production. But in the end the future of our film is up to you, our family and friends, business community, corporate matching programs. We need to raise a sum of $64,000 to be able to make this film. This
film project is written and directed by Javier Colon Rios. Javier
was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He finishes his BA in 2003 with
a degree in Telecomunications. In wich he participate in a lot of
films. In 2001 he spend a summer in NYFA. During the last couple
of years he’s been working in a lot of projects in Puerto Rico.
His last short film, Error 1, won the second prize in the First
College Latin-American Film Festival of Puerto Rico
